Nine selected for UK Trials

In April the Paphos Warriors had an exclusive visit by Coaches from the England Football association. (F.A.) The three day camp was hosted by Dmitri Halajko – the F.A’s regional head of coaching development and Ex-Professional footballer Jamie Godbold.

9 of our boys have now been selected for further trails in the U.K. this summer!!!

The Paphos Warriors hosted the Soccer camp, open to all our players over the age of 7 yrs. We encouraged ALL players to take part, whatever their ability as this was a opportunity of first class training. The F.A. Coaches were interested to coach all standards of our players. We were very excited to host this camp after the success and enjoyment of last year’s camp hosted by Marc Ventura from Barcelona

The Coaches were impressed with the overall standard of the boys and were extremely impressed by their attitude – that, these days is not always a priority. Both Coaches had a great time in Paphos with the Warriors and are definitely wanting a return visit.

Ultimately the purpose of this year’s camp was for the selection by Dmitri Halajko of some of our players for further training in the U.K. this summer with clubs such as Colchester United, Ipswich town and Norwich City. Never the less the training for all was a highly valuable and fun team experience..

DMITRI HALAJKO (Left) is the F.A’s regional head of coaching development manager. Dmitri is also the former director of the Colchester United Centre of Excellence is one of an elite group of coaches working for the English Football Association who totally specialize in developing pre-teen and teen players.
JAMIE GODBOLD (Right) was a professional player at Stoke City and is an England futsal international. Jamie has coached for Norwich City and in the U.S.A. Jamie now works with the FA as skills coach team leader for Norfolk and Suffolk.

Easter 2012 Schedule

All training will go ahead as normal during Easter EXCEPT for Saturday 14th April - there will be no training on this day.

Dubai Tour Diary Day 5

Day 5. Tuesday. Our last day but we saved the best for last! Off we travelled to the Wild Wadi Waterpark and what a day ! Our youth players met Bobby Zamora and our cheerleaders cozied up to Team GB dive champion Tom Daley !! With the sun high in the sky and the numerous slides it was a shame to leave the Wild Wadi but with a very very early start in the morning we headed back to pack before arriving for our tour awards ceremony at the and a fabulous last evening dinner at the Hard Rock Café, with several team mates joining the band on the stage.

Dubai Tour Diary Day 4

Day 4. After a pretty exhausting first few days it was time to chill out and most of the groups decided to go to one of the vast shopping malls for the morning then back to the hotel for a relaxing roof top swim. In the late afternoon we had some great matches against the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence , all three age groups won their matches even the u10’s who came out eventual 3-2 winners and the u14s who heroically fought back to claim a 5-4 victory.

The cheerleaders again performed several times during the matches and made the wonderful evening of football a total tour highlight. For dinner we headed off to the well regarded Sarai Arabic restaurant in the heart of the Jumeirah Beach Walk and the regional ‘meze‘ was another great example of local foods, some of which were not too dissimilar to some of the dishes we find in Cyprus, unfortunately quality over quantity after the long day!
